The Sham’s 2007

Here’s a round up of what Henry and I accomplished in 2007. I’m hoping I’ll travel more in 2008. Henry is already getting a jump start on that. On 1/1, he’s flying out and will be traveling for the next 26 days. He will be hitting up two continents, Asia and Australia. He’s going to Melbourne, Australia to study abroad for about 10-11 days. He’ll also be visiting Hong Kong and Bangkok. Lucky him! The life of an MBA student.

January

  • I saw my first fire at the apartment across the street from us.

February

  • Henry and I visited Sushi of Gari for Valentine’s Day. It was a very expensive meal, but so worth it!

March

  • Henry visited Morocco for Spring Break.

April

May

  • I went to Calle Ocho with Nora and some cousins with a very delicious meal.
  • Henry and I left for our Europe trip to visit Paris, Barcelona, Rome and London.

June

  • In London, Henry and I watched Chicago.
  • Henry and I returned from our Europe trip. We had lots of fun!

  • Henry turned 30.
  • We tried Peter Luger’s for the first time with Ben, Steve and Perry for Henry’s birthday
  • We went to our second Met game to celebrate Howard’s 30th birthday with his family.

Drowsy Chaperone

The Drowsy Chaperone (2006 Original Broadway Cast) For my Secret Santa with my friends, Henry was my Secret Santa and begrudgingly got us tickets to see Drowsy Chaperone. In what would seem very unlikely, for the Sham’s Secret Santa, Henry also had me. What are the chances!? Anyway, Henry really didn’t want to see Drowsy Chaperone because the title just seemed unappealing to him. Drowsy? Chaperone? Drowsy Chaperone?

Henry says he watched it with low expectations and it met his low expectations. Boo to Henry! Though some of his points I do agree with. There are a lot of references to the 1920s(?) that we didn’t get, we may be a little young to watch this.

But I wasn’t going to let Henry ruin my excitement. The last musical I saw was Chicago when Henry and I were in London and the last show I saw was Rent. Of the Drowsy Chaperone cast, I recognized Bob Saget (Full House), Cindy Williams (Laverne & Shirley) and Jason Kravits (from numerous TV shows playing side characters). On a random note, the original Underling, Edward Hibbert (Frasier), who is now in Curtains with David Hyde Pierce (also of Fraiser) lives on my floor and the theater that Curtains is in is on my street.

I enjoyed it a lot. I liked the whole experience with the songs, dances, backgrounds, storyline and characters. I actually even enjoyed Bob Saget as Man in Chair. I thought it was humorous funny, but not ROTFL funny, though the audience thought it was, which annoyed Henry. The character Aldolpho was hilarious! He was probably the best character. Cindy Williams played Mrs. Tottendale and she seemed to be the weakest actor. Her singing talents just weren’t up to par, I think I may sing better than her. But all the other actors had great voices, especially Beth Leavel, playing the Drowsy Chaperone. She was really amazing.

If you still want to see Drowsy Chaperone and still want to, you’re probably out of luck. It ends tomorrow, on December 30, 2007.

Everything You Need to Know About Lost

There’s a video clip that is 8 minutes and 15 seconds that should recap all of Lost for people who are new to Lost or for people who have watched it but have forgotten parts of it.

Expensive Jeans

Are expensive jeans worth it? And which brand is better, if any of these? Help me choose, not that I’m ready to run out and drop $150+ on a pair of jeans.

Futurama Marathon

Futurama Volumes 1-4

Adult Swim will be airing every Futurama episode starting tonight at 11pm through December 31 at 11:30pm. Henry and I used to watch it on Fox until it was canceled. Then we started DVRing them all when they aired on Adult Swim. We’ve since watched every single episode at least twice, if not more. If you haven’t watched it before, give it a chance, it’s pretty good. And if you have been watching it, you should pick up Bender’s Big Score. It’s the newest installation to the Futurama series.
