My cousins (Jennifer, Jassica, Cheryl and Cora), my sisters (Monica and Nora) and my new brother-in-law, Alan, celebrated my birthday with me on Friday at Markt. We made reservations on Wednesday for six and on Friday we were able to change the reservation from six to seven and seven to eight without a problem. We were seated when there were five of us. After we ordered, the food came amazingly quickly. While picking up our dishes, the busboy actually dropped Alan’s cup of water and it broke, water and glass spewed everywhere, on part of Alan and Nora and maybe Cora too. I really thought they would comp us something, but nothing. Our entrees were pretty good, as was the bread. The desserts were even better!

  • Pätes Végétariennes - Vegetarische Pasta Met Seizoengroenten Bow tie pasta with fresh garden vegetables sautéed in herbed olive oil (meat and dairy-free)
  • Moules À La Blanche - Mosselen Met Hoegaarden Mussels steamed in Hoegaarden beer
  • Moules À La Provenùale - Provenùaalse Mosselen Mussels with tomato, fresh basil, peppers and onion
  • Poulet Aux Cerises - Gebakken Kip Met Kriek Sautéed chicken with a kriek beer sauce, gruyere topped potato soufflé and sugar snap peas
  • Cabillaud À La Moutarde - Kabeljauw Met Mosterd Steamed codfish with vegetable stoemp and a Dijon-shallot sauce
  • Carré D’agneau Parfume Au Romarin - Lamscarré Geparfumeerd Met Rozemarijn Carré d’agneau parfume au romarin Lamscarré geparfumeerd met rozemarijn

Our desserts:

  • Les Desserts Nagerechten The one and only Dame Blanche: Vanilla ice cream with warm Belgian chocolate sauce & freshly whipped cream
  • Moelleux Au Chocolat - Warm Chocoladetaartje Warm chocolate tart served with homemade pistachio ice cream
  • Crème Brulée Classic crème brulée
  • Tartelette Aux Pommes - Appeltaartje Homemade apple tartlet with caramel sauce, served with vanilla ice cream and candied almonds

I also got a Peche Lindemans (golden color, sweet, bubbly taste of peaches) and Jen got Cassis Lindemans Deep (red, delicate aroma of wild currants, refreshingly sweet) to drink. They were yummy beers.
