Ridiculous Sign at UCLA

While taking a tour at UCLA, we went by the computer labs and I saw the most ridiculous sign and had to grab a picture of it. I think this computer lab is also only used by MBA students at the Anderson School, which just adds to the ridiculousness of the sign.

Stapler Sign at UCLA

We had to go to campus twice, one day for the info session and tour and the next day to sit in on a class. The first day, we had to buy a visitor’s parking pass for $8. Is that the going rate for state schools? I don’t remember if Bing was that high. The second day we went, we paid at a meter. It was eight minutes for a quarter!!! icon_eek

Delta Song

I realize Delta Song will no longer be in operation starting May 1st, but I think they should still take their work seriously. We took it going to LA and coming back. My issue when we were going was that when we went through security, they made us take our shoes off, which is fine, but the couple in front of us didn’t have to, I wish they would be more consistent. Coming back, the crew kept on telling us this would be their last flight with Delta Song, but that doesn’t mean they should stop working now. When we are landing they didn’t make sure everybody had their tray tables up (the woman in front of us didn’t), they should have mad sure we had our seat belts on and made sure we’ve stowed away all our luggage. After we landed, people were grabbing their bags out of the overhead compartments while the plane was still moving, basically none of the flight attendants seemed to give a damn. It makes me not want to fly Delta in the future.

Also another gripe with Delta, while coming back, I had an e-ticket, but couldn’t check-in on the kiosks, so I had to wait in line at the regular counters. I was third in line, the first guy went by very quickly, the second guy took about 15 minutes. Why? Because he had two bags he wanted to check in but exceeded the weight limit. So instead of asking him to move over and redo his bags, the attendant just waited for him to finally get it right, even after he asked if she wanted to help someone else first (which would have made a lot more sense to me!). So when I finally got to the counter, it was less than the 45 minute check-in time that Delta requires before a flight, so I had to carry my bag onto the plane (which is a pet peeve of mine, and I hate all the people that bring on all their luggage instead of getting it checked) because that guy took too long and the attendant didn’t have any common sense and let the line get very long. When we had to go through security, I made sure Henry and I were ahead of the problem guy and wouldn’t you know, when he went through the metal detectors behind us, they stopped him and he had to go through a few times and they were going to look through one of his carry-on bags. I was able to see and hear all this while putting on my sneakers. When we finally got to our gate, we were the last ones on the plane.

Other than that, it was a pretty uneventful flight, the plane wasn’t too full and the seat next to me was empty so I was able to stretch my legs out.

UCLA vs. Binghamton University

We went to an information session and tour of UCLA yesterday. Both are state schools, but UCLA is so much more impressive. The campus is huge and when you are inside the buildings, everything looks so impressive. There was really nothing impressive about Binghamton University we I went there. I’m still shocked that UCLA is a state school.

In-N-Out Burger

In-N-Out

We tried In-N-Out Burger for the first time. Henry liked it, I thought it was good, but not the best out there. I think if I got it Animal Style, I may have enjoyed it more.

Update: We were planning on grabbing some burgers for the plane ride back, but ran out of time. icon_sad

Second Day of Unemployment…

It’s my second official day of unemployment and what do I do? I wake up at the crack of dawn to go to the gym. It’s going to be an unhealthy two weeks in Los Angeles and Hong Kong, so I gotta work out as much as possible. Now onto a bowl of oatmeal…
