When Henry and I visited San Francisco, we went to the Exploratorium (like a Hall of Science), rode the cable cars a lot, visited Alcatraz (you should book this BEFORE you leave, there were people waiting on the standby line because they didn’t), had dim sum at supposedly the best dim sum place, which was very very overpriced and then walked to the Golden Gate Bridge (this took us over an hour to do, it looked so close!), walked through Chinatown, grabbed some food at the Fisherman’s Wharf and saw the man who looks to sit behind his fake bush and scares people, and bought some chocolate from Ghirardelli Square.
We stayed at Hotel Adagio. It was a cute little boutique hotel. We were surprised that the rooms didn’t have air conditioning. They told us to open our windows when we called to inquire. But it at times got noisy when police cars, ambulances and fire trucks went by with their sirens on. But we did enjoy our stay there.
We had a lot of fun at the Exploratorium and spent half our day there. It helps if you’re interested in the science of things. From their we walked to Ghiradelli Square (2.2 miles), we actually wanted to walk to the Fisherman’s Wharf (2.7 miles), but I needed a break and I was hungry.
While in Chinatown, we saw this Harry Potter statue outside a store with the broom coming out of a place that we had to take a picture of. The pictures of Henry and the lion statutes are something that only the Sham’s will get, particularly Perry.
Alcatraz was fun, but we went on the last tour of the day and it was freezing and very windy. We did the audio tour which helped a lot.
All in all, we did a lot of walking! It as also surprisingly colder than what I was expecting in May.
